35" Dumas Tiger Moth

I recently purchased the Dumas 35" Tiger Moth wood kit. I learned this is Pat Trittle design kitted by Dumas. Pat's site show the 44" Moth.. Is the Dumas kit the older version?

Yes, the 35" one for Dumas was an older one.

Pat's done build threads on both.

The 35" Dumas one is here.
Pat's own 44" one is here.

You should know that the reason Pat designed the larger version is because of how well the smaller one flew. A great design for modelling.

That is good news.. thanks for the info. I have few things in the way of this one but when the time comes I'll see if there's any interest in a build thread. I usually build larger glow... but this will be my first electric kit build.

A couple questions:
I read through the 35" build thread and saw a post about hacking in some ailerons. When I read the brief description on the site I purchased from it stated 3 channel minimum so I assume it can be built w/wo ailerons?
Do we know if instructions outline the build of ailerons if wanted, discussing less dihedral, etc. Or is it something the builder does on their own?

Received the kit today and nothing in there about ailerons. Good thing I enjoy bashing .

But, hacking is fun The hard part is keeping the weight down with the addition of the ailerons.

Yeah... I was given a amazon gift card and didnt see the 44" there... but I need ailerons.. just doenst look right without them. I think a servo in each wing is lighter than all the hardware for bellcranks, etc.. but not totally sure since the wires will need to be run supplying power and that could be the difference. Either way it's a bit before the build starts.

I was thinking about this and will be mounting one servo in the middle with rods out to the wings. I'm forgetting this thing is bascially a feather with a motor so there won't need to much if any strengthening so keeping it light won't be an issue.
