I was only using airtronics 761's on the flaps with tall carbon horns and mine would flutter in the low 200's you may have better luck than me with the servos you are using but if I were to build one for ultimate speed I would still reduce the flap cord lenth especially for weldon that has the easiest landing zone.

Thanks for the explanation Andre. It looks like a good solution!
The 7115th servos are great! I put them in a light K2m and like them alot so far. I would consider adding an external bearing if you want to go really fast as bearing play or flex appears to be their only limitation that might allow flutter. No flaw with the servo, I just think any servo that small could benefit from the external bearing... |

Mine is the F5B 74"ws, it has 17cm root chord with flap size being 4.2cm, so it's 25% of the main chord.... maybe reducinf just a little bit will help a lot, what you think? Cheers, André |

humm.. this give you more flap area and ...maybe....more command flutter possibility...
I played with math comparing the root chrod with flap size on DS planes, avarage was 23% on the root are flap, my standart wurm2b is 26%, If I reduce the flap size (on the root) from 42mm to 38mm I reach that target....

Hey Andre, I used them on the flaps , and they seem great. I didnt think I'd have enough room on the ailerons but it turns out they would have fit. By the time I realized it was too late. I also could have used a smaller horn on the mks 6125 servos but I was afraid I wouldnt get the aileron travel I needed, which turned out to be a non issue. Now I know that it will fit I will use the frames next time, as there was a little slop in the ailerons that wouldnt be there with the frames. To use the frames I would have to cut one of the mounts off the frame to fit it in the wing, but the frame and servo are all glued in as one anyway so it wouldnt matter.

I ended up opening my xmas present a lttle early this year,
first rocket almost ready for launching, it's a triple carbon wing and a solid fuse, dry weight 1370g, wing weight 1120g (with 80g on each tip). This is my light wurm so I would be happy having it just around 2kg. Flaps and ailerons normal size, no mod, will work hard on this linkage to have it safe and slop free... next year I start the 3-4kg wurm.. Marry Xmas!!! André |
