36 foot Slow Stick on Monster Garage last night!! -VIDEO!!

Last night on Monster Garage, Jesse James and the crew made a plane out of a $90,000 Panoz car. Here is the video... looks a lot like a slow stick to me! So all you SS fans... ENJOY!

That was a rerun, happend awhile ago. The video is of a guy video taping his TV ...although it did look like a SS, he only went 2 feet off the runway....wouldnt most of us have gone higher

Yeah, I saw that. Anyone know if he ever let a real pilot try and fly it?

yeah I loved it, but it was a pig.. need more HP to fly that waste of money
I think doing anymore than what they did would have been unsafe.. made good TV tho..
I did love the paint job...
Oh and the way jesse james picked on the test pilot...
kinda reminded me of the Glaicer girl P38 documentry..

I'm going to guess that someone with flying experience would have tried it before JJ stepped into it. I just cant believe he was the first to try...with 0% flying experinece...he might be able to ride (and make) a cool bike, but c'mon!

did anybody notice...did it have ailerons, elevator, and rudder? I cant tell

It had ailerons and elevator. Jesse also went for a flight in a cessna with an instructor before he flew the car.

Take it from someone who survived a crash test flying a full scale aircraft. He did the right thing keeping that contraption close to the ground. I'm still recovering from my leg fractures and I hate to see orthers make the same mistakes I did. I was testing a proven aircraft design (Kitfox) and thought I had everything right with near fatal results. The aircraft in the video especially with a low time/non-pilot is a disaster waiting to happen.

The video is really cool though.

The "plane" wasn't FAA certified for flight and the test pilot was under the direct threat of losing his pilot's license if he flew it. The Discovery Channel brass (producers of Monster Garage) didn't want Jesse to fly it. In true Jesse James style, he finally said "Let's do this right now before they find some way to stop me" and flew.

The car wasn't really designed to fly out of ground effect. This, according to a July, 2005 article in Popular Mechanics Magazine.

Gee, sorry to hear that. What happened? Sounds like a structural failure.
