thanks for answering my question, have seen the formula's but my math is not too good when using formula's. I know it is a simple case of ohm's law so am I right in saying to calculate the maximum power available is the batt pack power plus motor power in watts. ie batt capacity x voltage plus motor power in watts together ? or am I going down the wrong road.

Also how do I calculate hover, average and max power. I have been working on the basis that 750W is approx 1H.P in i.c terms and taking it from there.

Any feedback would be much appreciated

Thanks

I use about 80% efficientcy if it is not critical, but KC's sheet calculates it based on available motor and battery data. Lets say you have 5lb heli(ready to fly) and you want 100 watt/lb power. this means you need to be able to provide 5*100/.8= 625watt. using 6S setup(which give about 20v), you will need 31amp current draw.
