Smoke smell

I purchased a very nice vintage transmitter. The only problem is that it smells strongly of cigarette smoke. I can remove all the guts and clean the case. But the electronics, and especially the wiring may have most of the odor. Does anyone know of an electronics safe cleaner that might kill the smell? My 2 ideas so far would be to hose it down with a quality contact cleaner. Or hose it down with ACF50 - Corrosion X. I know that this is safe, just slimy and smells like
Play Dough. A spray flux remover might be too aggressive. In all cases I would have to keep it out of the pots. I know that there are spray enzyme odor killers but I would worry about corrosion.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Maybe dust it down with baking powder, let it sit for a while, and then blow it out with compressed air?

Just a thought.....

Isopropyl alcohol is safe to use and will clean the electronics and rosin nicely.

The smell could be IN the wire insulation, though. It can absorb the smell, so you might not get rid of it entirely.

Baking soda is not a good idea. It will attract moisture and, as a salt, will be a very CORROSIVE product.

And by 'Vintage' what do you mean ?

Cant see how anyone could give good advice without knowing when the 'transmitter' was manufactured.

A good while ago, I bought a stinkin' watt meter. It always smelt pretty bad until after testing a large setup, the current shunt resistors heated up enough to burn off what ever was on them. I guess the tar and other crap is deposited on the different parts thus causing the smell.

I reckon isopropyl alcohol will get you a long way in removing the residues causing the smell.

True. It is an ACE MicroPro 8000. Slightly off white textured vinyl. I will remove everything from the case and fix any corrosion, scrub, and paint the case. I also have a Pro Line that is getting the same treatments in addition to M*2K encoder and XPS 2.4
Iso sounds like the way to go.
Thanks all,
Ken
