escapade .61

considering the fact that nitro fuel is so expensive, I was wondering if you could put a gas engine in the escapade .61 and if so what size, or is gas engines only meant for the giant scale planes? LEt me know, your suggestions would greatly be appreciated

They have some 15cc, 17cc and 20cc engines that would work fine. Maybe a 23cc or 26cc if you needed more power.

DLE 20cc + Escapade 60

It has been done and documented on several forums and videos have been posted to youtube. If you get a wraparound jtec muffler (the smaller profile), people suspect that it'll fit under the cowl. G'luck. I thought about doing it myself, but I got a steal on another plane.

My experience with the DLE has made me a believer in small gas engines. It's a great engine.

Yea shudnt be a problem. As windgap said also if u get the jtec you could probably get it all in the cowl

Escapade .61 DLE30cc

I am in the process of installing a DLE on an Escapade .61
So far:
Toss the motor mount that comes with the ARF. It is not long enough and a Dubro shock absorbing mount is better and the rails are longer. The rear carb inhibits moving the engine back to recommended specifications. 5 1/2 inches.
This will effect CG

I am going to mount inverted but not starting with the cowl. Not sure it will work out with the engine farther forward.

Planning on mounting the iginition module under the fuel tank floor.

Throttle linkage will come through the electric vent knock out.
Any suggestions would also be welcomed.

I'm flying my Escapade 61 with a Saito FG-14 and loving it. I put the ignition module beside an 11oz tank. This gives me a solid 45 minutes of flying time before topping off. No, I don't fly a straight 45 minutes at a time more like 4 10 minute flights.
Love the clean running and fuel economy of gas.

Has anyone got a Saito FG17cc gasser. It is equivelent to a 100 four stroke. Cant find any reviews on it yet. Would be a great engine for a lot of planes including the Escapade 61.
