I visited the RAF Museum in Hendon, London for the day last Tuesday. It was a birthday treat marred by slow trains! Woke up at 04.30 didn't get back to bed until 01.30 the following day! At 66 I'm getting a bit too old for this!

Couple of pictures of the museum's D VII in factory finish attached. The quality isn't brilliant because although I had taken the camera with me I had left the battery and the memory card on my computer desk at home!

The pictures were taken with my old dumbphone.

After I realized that the pattern repeats itself, I tried many times to use MS Paint to simply sketch out the lozenge pattern. I remember that getting the pattern to intermesh with its' self was difficult.

Painful lozenge

Thanks Waynek! With all the rain lately and 7 kids / 2 grandchildren it's therapy . They are home for the summer and there is not enough tea in china to calm my nerves. I like building and the extra effort makes for nice slow flybyes .

We had different plans but we got the Loznege from Horizon Hobby and at the time, they didn't say it was cut for a specific model.

What ink jet printer or ink brand is best for printing lozenge on tissue? Doesn't bleed much when printing, and especially when covering and applying dope? Can the tissue be wetted when applying, or do you just carefully apply it over something like polyspan or another layer of shrunk white tissue, and the dope or WBPU?

Hi Gupi,
Thanks for putting the lozenge files up for us--it's very much appreciated. What program did you use for the illustrating part? Not too keen on buying Adobe Illustrator. I wanted to tweak a few colors for my own project but find I can't do it with Adobe Acrobat X Pro by itself. Your D.VII is inspiring!

@jonquinn: I use a Canon PIXMA printer. The ink is water based, so don't use water to shrink the tissue. I always use shrinking dope to shrink the tissue. This doesn't hurt the print at all - and after doping it the ink seems water proof as far as i can tell.

@Stachel: You're welcome. I used Adobe Illustrator because we have it at the company i work for and it runs on Mac. I guess Corel Draw and maybe other vector based programs can import PDF as well.
