Thanks for posting that!

For the last couple of weeks, I have had the engine apart on a Cox PT .020. The backplate is plastic, with a the usual screen in the back. This one must have been stored with the engine full of fuel, as the venturi passage was completely plugged. The reed had some sort of corrosion damage and had a hole in it. If it was the usual metal backplate, I could have used something caustic on it, but I did not want to dissolve the plastic.

I used alcohol, then a bit of my lovely wife's nail polish remover (I was concerned with that damaging the plastic, as well). Finally I removed the screen and picked some of the crud out with a dental pic. The thing that ultimately unplugged it was an ear syringe full of scalding hot, soapy water.

I put it back together (with a new reed) and fired it up today. It started up without too much trouble and ran pretty well. The exhaust throttle worked pretty good too.

This one will should fly soon.

I will try to post a picture later this week.
Cool! FWIW, acetone won't damage nylon like it will styrene- different plastics!

There are some of the old RTFs that had rare color combos. There were Cox PTs that had oddball colors and they are rare. I think the Comanche that was maroon instead of the more common green is the rarest one; that one brings into the thousand dollar plus range easy.

TD3's looked like they'd be hella flyers to me. Lose the landing gear and add a Black Widow or even a Killer Bee with a primo tank inside that hollow fuselage. tripple the control surface, run around 75% nitro with the right propeller and you'd have one great flying RTF. What weighs more, a TD3 or the Cox foamies like the ME109 and The Chipmunk?

Tigreflyer,

I don't know which weighs more, as I have not found my Me-109 yet, to weigh it.

The TD3 is much, much smaller and I would venture to say it is much smaller and it will turn out to be much lighter.

The one in the photo is brand new, but not flyable (the nose is badly cracked).

This is a later version with the larger horizontal stabilizer (compared to the Wen Mac versions on the first page of this thread).

Nice A-25, I still have the same Helldiver i traded for in 6th grade.

The camo p-63/p-39 looks factory? I don't think i've seen a camo version...just when you think you've seen it all, lol! I'll have to add photo to my web site.

Here's a rare one, a Comet F-51 in green/yellow ( Vermont Nat'l Guard) with Fox/comet .07 and decals used in the last version
