I am looking for radio options for 27 or 75 MHz over 4 channels. I am having trouble locating older units since 2.4 has taken over and saturated the internet.

another option is search Ebay for the old Futaba's with the module box in thier back ... they will run on any FM freq ... you just need the proper module (also can be found on ebay) ...

I got a 40mhz one from a freind ... swapped to the 75mhz module and crystal... and got a kick ass old futaba computerized workhorse for $90 all in

WIth all the 2,4 stuf out there,, Will someday the 72 MHZ stuff be forgotten and then submariners can use them on the surface. Will the FCC not care someday about 72? What are your opinions?

"not care..." in government speak is very vague, especially to the FCC.

My own take on this is that as long as there's ANYONE flying on 72MHz the FCC will not allow non-flyers to legally use those frequencies; there's just too much risk to the airplane and/or to the people standing around watching.

Will the FCC someday force the flyers off of 72MHz and onto 2.4GHz? I don't know but don't hold your breath until it happens.

My two pfennigs worth,

Dan

Where I live in Missouri, There is so much poverty or farmers that there are no model planes within 40 miles, either people can't afford them or they are working too much to deal with models. I don't know how far these transmitters can go, never tried, and I never ran out of range (with RC cars), I am sure at regattas that would not go over well. But for private running in my pond,, It is tempting. But I won't do it as my luck I would get caught

My thought is that if flyers abandon 72mhz the FCC won't leave that bandwidth sitting idle but will reasign it.

A really nice radio is a Futaba CAP 9.
The 72MHZ radio TX module can be unplugged and interchanged with a synthesized 75MHz HiTec Spectra TX module. You can also exchange it out for a 2.4GHz module.
These radios are as low as $200.00 mint in the original box with servos and accessaries.
