U-joints wear fast on four bys. Do you have a lift kit on that?

Roger, just a 4 inch .
Man that was loud. did you see what it did to the tail pipe?
The gas staion was full of people. I'm sure it made everyone jump
I have a spare transfercase i'm going to ship off and have modified with a CVjoint and order a new drive shaft. this isn't the first time this has happened. I have the 1st time on video if ya wana see it . looks like 50 bucks in parts and I'll need to sweet talk a shop to press them in.
Last time it cracked the trannys case and snapped off the tailshaft.
I pray that nothing else broke.

I figured. The extra driveshaft angle wears the U-joints pretty fast. At least you weren't out in the boonies.

So screwed. Looks like my Tcase blew up. I don't really care about off roading anymore. wonder how hard it would be just to get rid of the transfer case and run a longer drive shaft. then I'll just upgrade later. I don't need 4x4 to get to work ..
I really hope my tranny is ok.

Did you not hear a tell-tell popping noise several miles before this happened? They will usually start popping and pinging now and then. Especially putting in and out of gear.
Real bummer.

I just cleared a bay in my garage, going to call some friends and see if they want to help me roll her in. I'm going to pull the Tcase and inspect the tranny. then figure something out.
Mabey a dana300 or an atlas? Muahahha I needed something to keep my mind off things for awhile. mabey this was a blessing.

Man, that blows. I feel your pain.

I had a '71 Camaro thet blew an aft U-joint retaining strap bolt on the interstate in rural Virginia many moons ago. I was doing about 80 when it went, with no warning.

The car began shaking so bad when it let go, that it knocked the rearview mirror right off the windshield, my head was bouncing off the roof, and the U-joint beat about a two inch hole right through the body pan under the car. Both mufflers were beat up like they'd been through a shredder, and one ear on the input yoke on the diff was busted too.

The only thing that kept the driveshaft off the ground was the emergency brake cable. If it had slid out of the tranny end, I'd probably have been pole vaulted off the road by the driveshaft.

It was quite a ride.

well , i lied. the impala went back to my sister today. I can afford it.
So i'm down to a 1972 chevy pickup.
The gas is going to kill me. and I crawled over the truck real good yesterday and she has some issues. somone wired the rear of the truck and the dual battery set ups in the same color wire al the grounds are dirty and I don't know hows shes running..
I'll make her a little more reliable untill I can have my tcase rebuilt.

Old cars are funny. after playn with my jeep so long when you look at old school wiring you have to laugh. the front clip is like 5 wires.

While I'm sorry to hear of your further misfortunes with your truck, it's just a vehicle. It's not the end of the world.

Trust me - you will face far worse things in your life.

Put your problems in perspective, understand you'll get past the tough times you're facing and life will get better soon.

I imagine that used transfer cases are not all that difficult to locate. Is it a GM unit?
