5.5 x 5.5 Folder Prop?

Does anyone know where to find a 5.5 x 5.5 folding prop? Planes just don't like to land on the Cam 5.5 - they break or break your plane. The Cam 5.5 is a great prop, it would be even better as a folder with a 1-3/16" dia. spinner.

David Fee may chip in here, he made some sample 5x5 folders that were closer to 5.5x5.5.

BTW what motor are you using the 5.5x5.5 props on?

Neil.

APC now makes 5x5 and 6x3 folders. The hub comes in different widths, starting with 35mm. I am running the 35mm hub with the 6x3 blades on AF 010 at ~13000 RPM. I can't remember what is the max RPM rating.

Thank you both, I think I will look into the APC's - (easily available). I am running a Kontronik BL400-22 12,800 rpm on 7 cell 600AE's 5.5x5.5 Cam prop.

Try the CAM 5 x5 or the 6x 5.5. APC does not work well on low rpm. The 12800 is low rpm. My sp400 with 4.7 x 4.7 spins at 15600. The APC does not performs as well as the Grauper CAM at lower rpm.

Try the Graupner 6 x 5.5.

Hi Keith...
Sorry it took me so long to chime in... I've not been home much lately. Anyway, yes... I did start molding some carbon folders based on a 5x5 CAM prop, but they ended up being probably more like 5.5x5.5, as Neil correctly stated. As a result, they're maybe a bit too much prop for a S400, but they might be ok for your brushless motor, if you had an appropriate hub. Links are below...

Good luck and have fun!
David
