Help!
Align T-Rex 150 will not bind to Orange T-Six

Any one have any "luck" getting the Orange T-six to bind to the Align 150? The Orange satellite light will go solid as if it is bound, but when the bind plug is removed, no green...
Might be time for an upgrade...?

I tried everything I could think of with that combo, and never once got a green light out of the 150. The Orange T-Six and OrangeRx sat always bound right up (solid LED on the sat) but the 150 just stayed in the red and sat there beeping uselessly. Also tried a Spektrum sat, and it wouldn't even give me a status light.

I finally flashed my Devo 10 with Deviation to run DSM2 and it bound right up with the Orange sat...for a while. I had maybe three flights before the swash self-destructed and brought 'er down, snapping the landing skid pins off at the frame. When I finally installed replacement parts, the 150 wouldn't bind anymore. I perused every 150 thread from end to end on all the heli boards I could find, and never found a viable solution to the binding issue. If I was lucky, I could get it to bind maybe once in thirty tries, so I suspected a faulty flight controller.

I sent it back to the Align T-Rex Store for a binding issue check-up and they had no problems binding/initializing with a Spektrum DX8 and my Orange sat. I was told that Align never intended the heli to work with a non-factory-approved TX. Only the equipment specified in the manual is guaranteed to work.

Anyway, they kindly offered me a full refund, and a prepaid postage label so I could return the rest of the kit and lipos, and I was happy to acquiesce. Too bad, because the few flights I was actually able to wring out of the 150 were pretty impressive.

I may give the 150 another try when the public beta testing has eventually run its course and all the garbage plastics and motor connectors, etc., have been sorted out. But that's assuming that the protocol compatibility issues are eventually settled, which may never happen. There's no way I'm going to buy another DSM2 Tx when the two I have work perfectly with everything I've tried except the 150!

Good luck.

Harsh
I was thinking about getting something to deviate because of all the other protocols it'll eventually allow me to use.
Its a shame... such a nice looking copter has to sit idol next to 4 other DSM2 copters that I use all the time with the Orange T-Six. The only issue I ever had with the T-Six before this was the occasional "Nano won't bind on the first try" issue.
I guess for a while I'll just continue to throw ALL my crash money at Blade (I got better, doing inverted hovers now...) instead of needing to buy Align replacement parts.

I'll be keeping on eye on the various 150 threads to see if the protocol compatibility issues eventually get resolved. I'm hoping that once a few more Deviation users try out the heli they'll find a workaround. They're a remarkably inventive bunch, so I'm hopeful. Stay tuned...

On a related note, once I tried Deviation my T-Six has been collecting dust. It's a great radio--better, IMO, than the Spektrum DX6i for half the price--and I still recommend them, but it's no match for a Deviated Devo.

Last week I inquired with HobbyKing as to why the OrangeRx T-Six would not bind to the Align 150 DFC through the OrangeRx R100...
"I am wondering if you can tell me whether or not the Align T-Rex 150 DFC should be able to bind to the Orange T-Six transmitter using the OrangeRx R100 satellite receiver? If it should, I can not get it to properly bind and I'm not sure why..."

and was told, referring to the R100...
"it is not a stand alone unit it will not bind to anything on its own"

I got so frustrated last night at watching the 150 sit idol that I went out and found a DSM2 capable transmitter at a not so LHS.

After it completed the binding process on the first try this morning, I sent off a reply to HobbyKing addressing that response to my initial inquiry...
"In short, If my brand new Spektrum DX8 (that I literally purchased last night after going to 3 different hobby shops) will bind to the Align 150 through the OrangeRx R100 and complete the binding process, the OrangeRx T-Six should also bind to the Align 150. The OrangeRx T-Six will not bind to the Align 150 through the OrangeRx R100 like it should. Can you tell me why?"

I was embarrassed for HobbyKing at their first reply to my initial inquiry.

Am I going about this the wrong way, or expecting too much, or both? This was the follow up from this morning...

"Sir the R100 is not a receiver, it is an auxiliary aerial
No transmitter will bind with it.
As per you issue with the Align I suggest you contact them directly"

maybe I should speak to a different "product specialist"...?
:/

Maybe the T-six will bind with a Lemon RCX. The Lemon is well suited for the T 150 because of its very light weight and cheap price of $5.

I would certainly be willing to give the Lemon a shot but at this point, after a couple of successful flights this morning using my brandy new DX8 bound to the 150 through an OrangeRx R100, I don't think it's the satellite that's preventing the 150 from binding to the OrangeRx T-Six. So for now, even if someone figures out how to bind the T-Six through the R100 to the 150, my OrangeRx T-Six is getting shelved. I'd rather use the $5 for Proto X motors that I know I'll eventually need rather than... never mind
Maybe the T-Six can take on the roll of being my "Guest" transmitter. Maybe I'll put some LEDs in it and REALLY make it glow ORANGE!!! However, I think its time to take the batteries out.

well that really sucks.. I was hoping some one would have figured something out by now... after reading all the boards for weeks in anticipation of getting my 150,, it is now sitting in the box in the corner because I refuse to spend money on another transmitter that isn't a futaba 14sg... which I was going to buy last month on sale but talked myself out of because there is absolutely nothing wrong with my 8fg.... So IDK what to do at this point.. might just throw the heli up for sale... very frustrated.....

by the way I did forget to mention in my previous post, I am having the same issue. I have a Orange T-six and Orange RX100 and it won't bind... I even tried with my 8fg and the anylink adapter and no dice...

Who sells replacement motors for the Proto X? I didn't think they're available.

Of the two stateside possibilities, Tower doesn't show motors available. Have you tried to put a request in on the Revell site? I'd be pleasantly surprised if they would sell motors.

Way off topic here but I don't really mind, so anyway... I never put in a request with Revell, but I just went to the TowerHobbies site today and it says its estimating stock to be available early March.
However I read somewhere that the Chaoli Micro Motors will be making Proto-X motors available sometime soon... from what I've read around here about their other motors, they'd be worth the wait. I just ordered a set of the CL-0720-14 for a NQX build
