New Product
E-Flite Mystique 2.9m ARF

Welcome to the E-Flite Mystique 2.9m ARF thread.

At first glance, this looks like an amazing new product from E-Flite that can be flown as a slope soarer or with electric assist.

No doubt an electric assist sailplane of this size and from a reputable brand will capture the interest of experienced sailplane pilots and those perhaps moving up in size and away from foam.

Key Features

Options available for electric motor power or pure sailplane flight
Genuine Hangar 9® UltraCote® and UltraCoat Lite film covering
All wood plug-in wings with fully hinged flaps and ailerons
Streamlined fiberglass fuselage with built-in vertical fin
Full-house sailplane control with adjustable wing camber
Large canopy provides easy access to equipment
Heavy-duty carbon fiber wing and stabilizer joiners
Two-piece full-flying stabilizer

Overview

The E-flite® Mystique™ 2.9m ARF aircraft is an electric sailplane inspired by F5J-class competition and similar Limited Motor Run events popular around the globe. Like most sailplanes focused on performance, the Mystique 2.9m sailplane delivers an outstanding RC soaring experience, even if all you're looking for is a glider to enjoy on a lazy afternoon. Its impressive wing uses the versatile Selig SD3021 airfoil that's proven to be excellent in model applications with lightweight, open-bay construction by offering good low speed characteristics, as well as the ability to move quickly from thermal to thermal. The contour of the molded fiberglass fuselage is sleek yet provides ample room for its pushrods to run internally and still have room for a powerful Li-Po motor battery.

Can't help it, is the price a little excessive? $369.99 on Horizon website for a bare air-frame.

Street price will be no doubt be less. Seems like a great size glider for the money to me.

As usual, parts will be available which is something that appeals to me.

From the spec, images and video I am in. Already ordered my ESC, Servos and Rx for electric setup.

Prop and kit not available to order as yet of course. I figure pay for the electronics now and the kit when it becomes available, reducing a single larger transaction.

I was hoping/ asking for a HH user friendly, easy to transport, decent - but not top of the line -performance DLG. I believe HH's philosophy and support could unlock quite an audience in this line. Don't get me wrong, the Mystique looks nice and I'm sure there are some nice details under the skin, but it's a crowded segment, and at "retail $539.99/ selling $369.99" it is going to be tough sell.

Lovely plane. It looks like the price and performance is about in line with the TopModel/Esprit line. I'm a real fan of flying tails!

oh wow - keeping a close eye on this one for sure. I was seriously considering another TopModel CZ glider, specifically the 3.1m Gracia to accompany my existing TopModel Avia... but the Gracia is close to $900AUD for the kit alone...

so i'm looking forward to hearing flight reports / build threads about this glider. nice stuff.

If they offer this in a BNF with decent electronics I'll have to have it. Cant wait to see how far they take this one. E-Flight can make a good product and I hope they don't skimp on this one. They could really be on to something here if they do it right.

Not likely. This is a wood/glass performance bird that deserves open-stock class electronics. Pretty tough to pre-install top-class electronics and still hit a price point that customers are willing to buy.
