Train-air .40

I came across two Northwest Aerodynamics Train-air .40 aircraft (already built) that I would like to convert from glow to electric. The planes are sitting somewhere between 4.5-5 lbs, but I'd like to carry (if possible) a camera on them. Suggestions?

So more information, in case it helps:

Wing span: 58"
Wing Area 625 sq. inches
Fuselage length: 42"
Fuselage width: 3.5 inches
Weight range: (for glow fuel): 4.5 to 5 lbs.
Wing loading range: 16.5 to 18 oz/sq. foot

At this point, I was thinking an E-flite Power 46 or a Power 52?

I'm also not certain about the prop. It's a tricycle landing gear, and the bottom of the fuselage is about 6 inches off the ground at rest.

52 is overkill for this plane....and I think even a 46 would be overkill. Being as though you can't spin more than about 10-12 inch prop....you are going to want a little more rpm. A power 25 or power 32 would be plenty for this plane. In order to get any use out of a 46 or 52, you are going to want to swing a much larger prop than the clearance will allow or run higher cells to get the desired rpm.

If you can get an 12 inch prop on there with enough clearance for heart attack free landings, I would start with about an 12x8 or 12x7. On a power 32 on 4S that should get you about 500 + watts of power, which will be plenty to fly this bird. It should also draw around 40 amps or less with that setup too.

I have converted several trainers that are like this and I used the HobbyPartz Tacon Bigfoot 32, 4 cell 5000mah, 60A esc and a 12x8 prop. All of them fly great at half throttle and should have no problem caring a camera. The 5000 mah batteries are more than it needed, but it was what I had on hand to use.

Sport Air 40 pic's

I have Sport Air 40 and using a Rimfire 46 on 6 cells.
I've been building vintage kits and converting them to electric for 15 years now.
I'm a full scale pilot also and the old saying is " overpowered aircraft is just about adequate"
So with that said my Sport Air 40 pumps out about 1100-1150 watts with a 55A draw using a APC 11x5.5 prop.
