I've used aluminum plumber's tape (for duct work sealing) with limited success.
It won't do compound curves, but for straight chrome pieces, it polishes pretty good.
On model airplanes I've also use the chrome mylar from truck sign companies..It's perfect chrome, but again, it won't do compound curves.

Nice pictures, car looks good ! For the chrome the only thing you
might wont to try is 1/2 round rubber that we use for rub rail on tugboats
you glue it on and then you paint it and looks great .
I think robbie sells it or try harbor models in california.
