Air Titan with Joystick

Hey Ian!

I just wanted to say thanks! This is some great work. I was just now able to successfully get your code to work with my Air Titan. Here are the components that I'm using:

1) FrSKY DHT transmitter
2) FrSKY V8FR-II receiver
3) Arduino Mega 2560 R3
4) Circuits@Home USB Host Shield 2.0 for Arduino
5) SainSmart I2C LCD

I had no problems at all with getting the code to work with this particular transmitter --> everything worked on the very first try. (I did have to modify the code slightly to work with the I2C LCD, but it was very easy to do. ) Two thumbs up!

Joystick box finished!

It's sad that this thread has died. Ian did some very cool coding.

Well, from my previous post several months ago, I transplanted all of the necessary electronics into a nice electrical box. I also added a few gadgets and gizmos. See pictures. I added the following capabilities to the box and to my personal code copy:

1) Box powered by 4s lipo
2) I used THIS (divide by 5) voltage divider to read the lipo voltage from the arduino. This has worked well and does a good job of detecting battery charge.
3) I used THIS voltage regulator to supply 9v to the arduino and radio
4) I used the FrSKY radio transmitter mentioned in my previous post
5) I added 2 option switches --> for toggling channel 7&8 PWM high and low
7) I added 6 buttons for setting state of channel 5--> Each button corresponds to a flight mode within the ardupilot software. (I use AM 2.6 flight controller)
8) The LEDs provide feedback as to which flight mode we are in

OMG I want this

(Background story)
So started getting interested in quads late last year, finally bought a little hubsan to toy around with, was doing fine indoors, made the mistake of taking it outside on what I thought was a light wind day, but a nice gust came up and slammed it into the house and then the side walk, so even though I bought extra blades, this of course broke 3 of the arms.
So anyway, the whole time I was flying, I was thinking about how great I could fly in Battlefield 1942 using this exact same Logitech joystick and how nice it would be to have Pitch, Roll, and Yaw on the same stick again and it seemed to me it would be a lot easier, so I am so happy to see this has been done.

(Actual question)
Im sorry if I missed it someplace, but is there a location with complete build instructions I can follow to get one built for myself? Would love to get a mini racing quad FPV setup using this.

Amazing project, Help needed please.

Hello,

I am a doctor from Mexico. I have been flying computer simulators for a long time, and I started flying RC about 3 years ago, however I never found myself confortable using the usual RC controller after flying with a joystick on the computer.

I have been looking for some time for a solution to this problem, and finally found Ian Johnston´s web site with this project.

I can easily find my way around computers, and have no problem in soldering and connecting wires, however, I have almost zero experience in coding and arduino (besides what I have read on the net).

Right now my RC is a Flying Wing.

As RCNunya I am looking for someone to help me out with this... actually someone who could help out quite a lot of people looking for this system.

We are looking for build instructions, with a system diagram and a list of the parts needed (resistors, etc.) besides the components already mentioned previously, as well as instructions on how to upload the code and make it all work basically.

Finally I was wondering If there is a way to connect to the arduino two/three extra channels that would come from the head tracker (Quanun Head Tracker).

Thanks.

MdMx
