There can be several effects:
1. Meter parallax. Your photo shows almost 13V but in fact it is like 12.6 as you explained.
2. Absolute deviation. Analogue meters have fixed max. deviation, e.g. 2%. On your scale that would be 2% of 50V = 1V, so the real voltage will be between 11.6 and 13.6 (in this 2% example).
3. Charger inaccuracy. I don't know the accuracy of this charger. I have two of them, one shows 0.1V more than the other. I think 1% deviation is normal. In your case it could be more, but divided by 3 for a 3s lipo I wouldn't worry about it.

Just figured this out. The problem is not in the charger, its in the battery. 12v on my voltmeters and 13.XXv on the charger and on my kk2. Tried the output from a 5v mobile phone charger and both the accucell 6 and kk2 displayed 5v.

You still have the "loading effect" of the voltmeter, but you need a very bad battery to get 0.5V voltage drop.

Unless the charger has a Power supply mode it can not be used as a Power supply. Read the manual to find out if You are uncertain.

I have some CTEK chargers to charge 12 volt car, marine etc batteries and they have a special Power supply mode that give constant 13.6 volt (max 7 amp on my MXS 7.0 chargers) out.

Back in my days of racing 1/12th scale carpet cars ('85-'89 haha), I would use a small tractor battery as my power supply AND a car charger much like the one you showed to keep the battery full during the day. It worked very well but was somewhat heavy to carry around. You CAN use the car charger BUT you need a stable power source in between it and the Acucell
These days I just use a good computer power supply to power my A6

try this

http://www.amazon.com/SUPERNIGHT-TM-...+power+adapter

your battery charger may have too much ripple in the feed
and it may go too high as a result

Good idea, I would go a little higher amp wise so the power supply will stay cooler (the A6 will only pull 5A, with a 10A PS potential the PS will be hardly breathing hard ).

I ended up snuffing out one of the two power supplies in the pic above with my Imax B6 (Turnigy equivalent).
I was charging some 4 cell 2,400 LiPo's at 1C and after about 10 minutes - the bloody thing got hot and I smelled smoke - might have been a defective one - but with a 5A 12v rating - it should have handled the 2.4A I was asking of it..... maybe not, 4S = 14.8V @ 2.4A.... might have been too much....
In the end, and at the same time - I was getting back into 32nd scale slot cars - I bought a 40A adjustable voltage PS and haven't had an issue since - even using the two Imax B6's AND the Turnigy all at the same time....

The PS is a Powertech MP 3802 - can supply info if needed - came from Sydney, Australia - from Armchair Racer - if any of our Oz forum members are interested....

We are a little lucky at our flying field (LDMFA) - we have a number of 240v power boards around the pits area - blokes simply bring their PS and chargers and plug in.... club is currently erecting a "charging" station - with fire extinguisher!

frats,

Charging NIMH batteries with the Accucel 6?

Charging NIMH batteries with the Accucel 6?

I have the below Hobby King AA/AAA battery holder and of course the Turnigy Accucel 6. I am unclear what settings to use when charging my Turnigy LSD batteries. I have both the AA and AAA sizes.

Many Thanks

the chargers like the one above usually charge at 25 to 75 MA
or .25-.75 of an Amp

as nimh in the AA-AAA configuration are not designed as
fast discharge batteries the .2 would be good for AAA
for AA a bit more would be ok
see if you can find a
capacity and charge at less than 1C
