Actually this is a really great (and inexpensive) idea !!! I absolutely hate all of the little ear-buds that come with our various goggles, and would like to have the option of turning up the volume on an integrated speaker or plugging in an after-market set of walkman-like single or double lightweight headphones.

There are pan/tilt systems available that should work well. How about this one from servo city:

That's the one I'm using. Works very well. The only modification I did was to use a stepper motor for the pan, thus giving me 360deg rotation. I could fly circles around the antenna, but after 2 turns the cables start catching and you need to fly in the other direction to unwind

The ServoCity example is a really good one.....but perhaps instead of using it as-is (injection-molded plastic i think), you could have someone pre-fab a kit who has the equipment and ability to perform mass-production of laser-cut ply parts....i.e. this would be similar to the EZ-pod that range video sells or the slowstick hop-up parts that RadicalRc sells. These would be much less expensive and also light-weight, strong, easy to produce, easy to sell and ship, and easy for us to assemble and use with standard servos and cabling.

Hi all, I'm also in support of Antenna Tracking and Diversity Controller system. I would even go so far as to suggest 3 Video/audio outputs. 1 for goggles, 1 for LCD monitor (good for spectators) and 1 for Hard drive video recording.

Hey ssassen, you say you are currently selling an Antenna tracking system, please post a link to where the general FPV community can buy your system now and we will buy it. Otherwise S**t *p.
If you are having problems with suppliers and manufactures in getting product to market, I am sorry for that. As I have said before, (from the videos we have seen) I think your system looks fantastic, but, so what if somebody else decides to produce something that competes in the FPV market. You don't hear Rangvideo carrying on when Eagletree decide to do an OSD that also does RTH.
And besides, have you never heard of somebody (families or individuals) owning 2 cars from different manufactures, it happens all the time. The situation is the same with FPV pilots, heaps of people own more than 1 aeroplane and like to try out different manufactures equipment.
I'm sorry to say you are not really endearing yourself to potential customers with your attitude.
Please take it the right way, and as I'm sure you have already done, put the pressure on your suppliers and manufactures instead of taking it out on your potential customers.
I'm sure, that with the right attitude, that when the EzOSD gets to market you will be supported by plenty of customers. Weather you were first or not.

Looking forward to EzOSD

cheers Geoff

Was looking forward to the EZ stuff, but got tired of waiting and got put off by the comments received when stating facts.

Very much interested in the tracker/diversity!! As said before, build it and we will buy it!

I am ready to pre-order Bill I am assuming that the system will use GPS info for the location of the plane, but what gives the antenna its location? Will it be assumed that its location is the starting point of the launch? Also, if the info can be displayed in real time on a laptop, I think a Google Earth interface would be awesome! If that price point includes the diversity tuner as well, that would be a great value, but if it adds to the price, I would like to see the diversity offered as an add-on as I already have a good deal of money tied up in a diversity tuner.

I say give some suggestions of existing pan and tilts but don't make the system proprietary and made to work with one pan/tilt specifically. I would rather build my own to have it the way I want. Another thing to consider would be how much rotation you will get with a standard servo. Maybe one requirement should be a true 180 degree
(of even 360) servo.

Looking forward to it!

Send a message via ICQ to BrainDrain_dx
"you need at least two separate video AND audio outputs"
I voting for 4, you can never have too many of these

Awesome idea, glad some "other" manufacturer didn't make their release dates

make it as much plug and play as possible even if that means making a pro version that is more expensive.

Would the pan be robust enough to handle a 900mhz size patch antenna?
