I have two 10S's that I use to charge a variety of batteries. Was wondering if I should plug in the balance or power leads first. Does it make any difference if I am charging one or two batteries? Thanks for any replies.

Hi:

In the case of the Cellpro 10s charger, I'd recommend connecting the main pack leads up before plugging in the balance connectors. Sometimes you'll get a small spark when the output capacitor charges up. Your larger main pack connectors will have a better time of dealing with this than the small balance connectors pins.

Follow same process for one or two pack connection.

PL8 is opposite order. Plug the balance leads in first, then the power leads. This is because PL8 has surge protection circuitry. It only works if you plug the balance leads in first, and it virtually eliminates any sparking when you do it this way.

and when you remove does it matter, or is it balance leads last. I think i just got into the habbit on my last charger of doing balance leads first, then last to remove. pl8

Is it the same as PL6 in this regard?

What if I am using PL6 + MPA, since paralel charging need to plug main lead first to avoid inrush current and sets off the polyfuses

The Powerlab6 is different. There no advantage to plugging the balance leads first. Go ahead and connect the main leads first.
