Hi, is there a place where I can buy servocovers fitting my Viper F5D, BUT only3mm higher so I can fit a 12mm servo and still get the servocover on looking good.

Im not trying to buy something exactly for the Viper and my requests, but maybee there is some that could be cut down and fit ?

OR, if someone could make me a pair custom for a reasonable cost ?


the covers are 43 x 36mm to fit inside the small lip, but they can be larger on outside also, I can tape them against the wing,,

They need to be 3mm higher "bulb" sticking up then the original ones, making room for 12mm servos...

GOOD reliable sloopfree servos in that range 10.5 to 12mm, easy to find..

Try the new 8mm hitec 7115TH--with nice strong titanium gears.

Ive seen them, but the cost is astronomical

I can make in the 3D printer, about €20 for a pair 100% custom. + shipping in Sweden.

Not super cheap but atleast an option.

for my application they turned out like this. The black is epoxi paint which did't work well. Better just color them with a magic marker pen.

Sound ok Henke,, Have a few options/ideas making them myself also, I will let you know if my own works goes bad

Mm, uh, well, here are the taller servo covers I made for my Viper. Suspecting aileron flutter a while back, I thought the culprit was the thin, flexible wing skin to which the servos were glued. So I then removed the aileron servos and glued 1/64" plywood to the inside of the wing skins to reinforce them before gluing the servos back into position. This, then required taller aileron servo covers which I vacuum-formed from ABS over molds I made from basswood. The covers are taller than required and I intended to shave the molds down a little and pull new, lower covers, but haven't gotten around to it yet. In the mean time the covers have performed perfectly.

Since taking the photos I've painted the covers to match my wing.

I suppose I could pull you a set sebbe, but how to send to Sweeden? I don't need any payment except to cover the cost. Maybe I could send, then you can pay me later after I get the shipping bill.

EXCELLENT , just what I want, exact that shape and size... Im sure they will be perfect, YES, make a pair please, tell me how much when done, choose shippingoption so they reach in normal time, (not the cheapest way, and not the most expensive either), something affordable and reliable...

OH, how heigh was the wodd you put in between ? just good to know how heigh servos can be fitted....

edit: never mind, saw it now, 1/64 " but this is just like 0.4mm,,,, hmm, I would need the covers to be 3mm heigher then the original ones,,,,so a 12mm servo can be fit inside.. normally the original ones only take 9mm, right ?

If you have drawings and approximate sizes I could carve a plug and make a mould for them.

You're better off though just using the covers you have, getting some 3mm balsa, cutting to the right shape and using it to lift the covers a little bit.
