3D Pro pitch set up problem, help please
I've posted on other boards so sorry if you are reading this again, but I still need help.
Trying to set up my 3D Pro and my pitch range is barely -4 to +15. In setting up my servos, with the arms at 90* at mid stick I have +9! How can I lower this number and hopefully get some more negetive pitch? I have set up other eccpm helis before so I thot I knew what I was doing. I have shortened the mixing arms that go to the blade grips to as small as possible, and my servo linkage arms are as sorth as possible. Others have suggested cutting the mixing links and rods inside them, but c'mon, this is a new heli that has never even been flown!! I shouldn't have to do that kind of crap. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!! j |

I am a newb, but how about adjusting everything on your radio to "0".
Move the Tx to 50% (without batt. connected to heli). Disconnect servo arms, and install them to where the swash is mid shaft, 0 pitch on blades. Power on radio and connect batt. Adjust your swash, E points, and subtrims until servo movement is just right. Now is this possible or would this be the wrong way to go about it? |

That's the right way to do it RevGadget, but I think what StrangeRanger is saying is than when he lines up the servo arms, and lines up the mixer arms, the main blades are at +9 pitch. Indicating there must be something amiss with the head geometry....

Dude is right, the problem is that with the swash at mid-shaft, ie I have equal travel to go up and down, I'm already at +9! If I move the swash so I have 0* pitch, the swash is almost sitting on the bottom mast collar with no where left to go.

OK, snapped some pics at lunch for ya.
These are all with the servos and blades at 0* Maybe you can look over your linkage and compare them. Maybe something is different somewhere. Hope it helps Shane |

What about the swash arms, are yours curved down like in the pic?
Is it possible the small pin the holds the head on the shaft is broken, and the head slid down lower on the mainshaft, causing all the linkages to be pushed up? |

Oh yeah, is it possible you have the wrong mainshaft? Maybe yours is shorter, or from the wrong bird? This could easily cause all the problems. I will get a measurement for you from the top of the collat, to the bottom of the aluminum head hub ASAP

What radio are you using ? I've got a Futaba 9C and had to go into the Swash ARF settings and adjust them to:
AIL -60 ELE +60 PIT +25 |

Skeppley, thanks for the awesome help and pics. If your pics are taken at 0*, see how much space you have under your swash, above the collar? If I'm at 0*, I have no space between teh swash and collar. century MUST have Inuendo Removed something up on this bird. Typical century.
j **EDIT** Todd, I'm using a JR 9303. I'm sure it's not a radio/servo issue. Now that I've been talking with everyone I'm convinved it must be a physical part issue. Something in the geometry just isn't right. Last edited by Fred Bronk; Apr 26, 2005 at 04:39 PM. Reason: Profanity Inuenndo |

Skeppley I thought that too but in the end I adjusted the Swash AFR settings on my 9C Tx and every thing turned out just fine. |

Can you check your Settings under Swash Mix - CCPM SwashPlate Mixing and post your values. |

I'm not at home, but off the top of my head last night I think they were:
Aiel: 60 Elev: 60 Pitch: -55 I thought of messing with that more, but that still wouldn't help or explain why in the middle of the travel range of the swash, which should be 0*, I have 9*. Right? j |
