Project to share

of interest mostly to the Older Age generation in the BoB's group.
At the age of 9 back in 1946 I built my first MA from balsa and paper. It was a glider and it flew well hand tossed from a high water tower. After that I attempted my first fuselage model : built from plans, with full fuselage and of course "rubber banded" .. I include a photo.
WELL : I got my pal in Argentina to track the plans and they're on the way.
I am going to RC using the SMALLEST available actuators motor and ESC

This model used to get 10minute + flights, always launched from a high water tower and my FIRST powered MA triumphs......
INCREDIBLY it's still going strong after MORE than 60 years elapsed.
stay tuned
have patience, I am just a Oldde Phartte !

P.S. this project is just "copying" the successful conversion done last month by a retired Engineeer in Buenos Aires. The project is published in the local MA Mag.... I think to improve this performance since his project uses "servos" and rather heavy items....whereas here we have access to VERY small stuff, actuators i.s.o. servos etc

Rick,

That sure brings back some good old memories. I had one similar in the early 60's, we use to wind the rubber band with a small hand drill. Good luck partner..

Sweet old plane, Rick. Sure sounds like your heading down memory lane with her.

Too rainy for flying today. Getting ready to paint my youngest boys room. He's a hughe Star Wars fan and wanted it all BLACK. Had to talk him out of that. SPackeled up some nail holes and am getting ready to primer it.

Hey Guys,

I wanted to run by a product to you and see if anyone has seen it or........... knows where it can be purchased.

This "velcro" like product is usable forever and doesn't wear out. Unlike Velcro with a double loop weave on one side and the other with lint spun texture on the other this product sticks to itself! It is a nylon or plastic product and I HOPE you can see the strands or ball like hairs on it in my pictures. If you use this as I did on my ESC (it came a used heli I bought) and other pieces you can remove them with such ease there should be a law. Unlike Velcro this can rub itself but it won't stick until you push it firmly together, then it enter-locks.

All thoughts are welcome. I have looked for this product everywhere and no one I have come in contact with has even seen it before.

Thanks JPEE

Jpee- I've seen that stuff before but don't recall where. Somewhere through work on some sort of equipment I've serviced probably. It almost reminds me of lego blocks in the way it stays together. Likely some foreign product.

CopterKid,
What fine looking pup! I don't know my breeds like others perhaps but he looks like a Cocker? Still a mighty fine looking pup.

Dave,
Sorry about the crash. I can just see your wheels turning to make your new rod with a bend it so it gives out and not the swash. Say... that's good news to know about AMAIN ships to $2.98. If you or ANYONE who does not charge sale tax!!!! that's what I am looking for. I need to buy my Kontronic ESC for my 700 and that puppy is $530.00 so no sales tax would be great. However there are only few Heli Stores like Ready Heli that sell the Kontronic. Still you deal on cheap shipping is great news.

Hey Vic,
Are you and Dave an shed building contest or something?

Jim,
Nic to see you pumping several packs a day through that little Humming bird MCPX.

Take Care Fellers..... JPEE
