Buy a micro quad. They cost about $50 and are extremely durable. They handle wind much better than FP helis and fly circles around them. If you like the micros, you can move up to a 350 size quad for about $200. If you don't like quads, a Walkera Master CP is a good choice for your experience level.
The rotating blades of a heli form a solid disk that wind will not penetrate. So, that disk acts like a kite when wind gets under it. The ability to handle wind requires enough movement authority to be able to turn and pitch into the wind, enough power to drive against it, enough head loading to provide inertia and headspeed and very fast response. FP helis have none of these characteristics. Quads have all of them. CP helis have all of them, plus the ability to use negative pitch to drive down against the wind that's pushing up. |
