Need help to assembly my new Moonson sailboat
Hello everybody,
how are you? I'm new here, and have just registered because i need some help to assembly my new sailboat... and have some doubts. I have bought a sailboat Moonson 1,8 mts: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/45319171/mooson/01.jpg 1: Why does this bar serve? What happens if i take it off? (Image: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/45319171/mooson/04.jpg ) 2: Why the frontal mast has the cable going into a hole before being fixed? Can't i fix the cable directly at the first hole (like i show in the imagem) (Image: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/45319171/mo...ib%20boom2.jpg ) 3: I could see that, there is a wire (eletric wire) inside the main mast... is that wire used to do the antenna to receive de signal of the controller? How should i link my receptor that is inside the boat, and the antenna? Thanks very much. att. Carlos |

yes, it helps me a too much, thanks! So, how many batteries go into the transmitter is independent of how many batteries go into de receptor, alright? Do you have any idea how many volts i must use? Since i don't have problems of weight, i will use 4 AA batteries... (i think it uses 4,5 to 6,0 volts). |

The transmitter takes what it takes to work and produce the signal. The receiver also takes what it takes to work. The two are separate and independent regarding power supply.
The boat itself will probably only need a 2 channel radio, any more is just empty slots, but the extra, unused, features might be useful on a later model. If you do use 2.4GHz, you do not need an aerial up the mast. But I am not familiar with a Monsoon - if the mast is a two part one, a wire up the inside could be a way to keep the two parts together. |

Thanks for every answer!
And about the battery, i have decided to work using a 6,0 Volts battery: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...iver_Pack.html Does this charger works with this battery? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...40v_Input.html What does "2S and 3S' mean? |

Welcome to the forum! Some very good answers here but I think I will explain a little more of what the boom vang and the jib bowsie are for. The main sail has to be adjusted due to the breeze blowing at the time of your sailing. You want some twist in your sail so that the point about 1/3 down from the top of the sail is parallel to the mainsail boom. This is accomplished by the tension you use on the mainsail bowsie to have some fullness in the bottom of the mainsail. Then you use the boom vang to loosen or tighten the leech of the mainsail to allow the top 1/3 to be parallel with the boom. Also the backstay adjustment can effect this so you must learn to use what is called the tuning circle (google it).
The bowsie on the jib is used to control the slot between the jib and the mainsail. A couple of inches of slot will get you started. Then adjust in small increments to egg out some more windward speed. I'm talking about adjusting the slot by 1/4" to see effects (measure time across a set course) on the speed. You'll soon learn how to tune your mainsail and jib based on the wind. |
