We just watched The Road and it was the bleakest post-apocalypse movie we've ever seen. Wife-Unit read the book and said they left one tidbit out of the movie where The Man and Boy were in the fallout shelter, and find a stash of gold Krugerrands, and don't take them when they leave as the only thing of value left in the world was food and ammunition.

I think its worth watching, and is well done, but be prepared for no laughs or smiles.

Just got back from How to train your Dragon. Although most will probably freak, I liked it better than Avatar. Not fair to say I guess because I didn't care for Avatar. For a family movie, this was great. Laughed quite a few times and the 3D was done well and an added bonus as opposed to carrying the movie. I was most impressed by the very effective portrayal of emotion on the characters. The young boy at the center of it all was the best and amazing how much they were able to show with the dragon's eyes alone. The wife rates it as excellent (5 of 5 stars) and the 10 yr old said she liked it which is a glowing review in her language. Overall it was very well paced, very good character design/animation/CGI, effective use of color and mood, and just plain old funny.

Unfortunately I stepped out during this part but the wife wanted to add that the first person view of the boy and girl on the back of the dragon was amazing. She said visually it felt as though she was actually on the back of the dragon as he spun through maneuvers. She and I both feel it had a great message and that the movie was not over the top in any aspect.

Loved how he tamed the tail so to speak.

Up in the Air

14 thumbs way on up. If you travel a lot as I do you will appreciate this one. Great date movie too

Couples Retreat was entertaining. It had some pretty funny parts to it.

Gotta say I love having Netflix. What great business idea they had.

Pearl Harbor on the telly right now. Wow, what a stinker of a film. The very worst excesses of overdone CGI I think I've ever seen.

We just saw "How to train your Dragon" - very good, with a better plot than Avatar.

My daughter is begging to go see it again while it's still available in 3D.

Watched Sherlock Holmes tonight with my brother and really enjoyed it.

We watched it last night. I enjoyed it a lot, but my wife and daughter thought it was just "OK" - said it was a little slow in parts.

It looks like they left it open for a sequel.
