I guess it depends on how far you run your motor mounts on the arms. Honestly, that amount will make no difference in flight. I would say leave it and it should be just fine.

If you have an X configuration and the X has 90 degree angles,
then those two measurements should be the same.


On my IFrame: AB = 15 1/4" and AC = 14 1/2"
All I would have to do is push each motor mount in 3/8"
to square it all up.

I wonder if some of you guys could measure your quads and tell me if points
AB and AC on your quads are equal in length from center of motor to center of
motor???

Well, here it is with the arms lengthened. Put carbon arms on there also instead
of the wooden ones. I like the carbon much better.....stiffer and straighter.

I also put different motors....went from the Suppo A2212-11 to the HT DT700's
to accommodate the larger 11x4.7 props.
I also bought preflashed ESC's.....highly recommend buying ESC's that come
already flashed if your not sure about how to do it.

Tried flashing the esc's on the first set up and motors ran twitchy
and the esc's were beebing all over the place..

I probably didn't do it right.
This runs very smooth
Now I just have to tune it all up

I'm running it with two 20-30c 1500 batteries using a 2-Pac HD dual battery

My only concern is that it weighs 3lbs and hovers at almost 3/4 throttle.

Any thoughts on that?

Randy, the setup looks good. I have never used those motors before, but I have seen them used. You really want it to hover at just under 1/2 throttle... about 40 - 50% -- this would give you best performance. When you have to hover at 75% throttle, there is very little room for correction when flying with any speed as you are already too close to the top end.

My xRotor IFrame Quad fully loaded (GoPro Hero2, full FPV gear, OSD, and a 2200mAh 3S pack) weighs 2lbs and 6oz -- Not even 2.5lbs. Why is yours so heave?

I love putting these things together... too bad my CA was all dried out or it'd be glued together. I'm planning on running the stock size as I really like the idea of a very compact fpv quad. Almost glad I ruined my 900mhz CL so I don't have to figure out where to put it.

Looking good -- I like it nice and compact as well. Fits nice in the car and easy to fly through trees and other small gaps. Nice little tight package.

Hmmm? I dont know why it's so heavy but it is really frustrating

Yes, it's basically a 3000mAh system.

I know the motors are 20g more a piece totaling 2.85oz.
3 more inches on each square tubing which would be like adding an extra
12" arm.
I spray painted the frame but that couldn't add any more weight than those
who clear coat theirs.

I dont get it David, I rebuilt this so I could lift more weight for FPV and I did
exactly the opposite....LOL

I should have just asked you exactly what yours was and built mine identical

If this one doesnt work out, I may just do that!

Any reason why you used wood for the motor arms and carbon for the frame arms?

Actually the frame arms are Gf with basswood inserts. And it was only due to the fact that I had a leftover piece from the last build that was almost the perfect size.

Also what's the best place to get those props?

Don't have Fpv gear on it but she flies and has GPS so I'm going to play with that a bit before moving the fpv gear over.

I always just use Velcro between the battery and frame. Straps are optional.
Just place it the best you can to balance it for what ever gear you might have on it.

About the props -- they are really nice but they are $10 each. I took them off for now and are saving them for special occasions. I am actually really liking the stiff carbon filled Gemfan for FPV.
