T-Rex 450 V1 vs. Esky Belt CP V2

I am looking to buy another Heli.

An area very reputable R/C Hobby Shop Owner highly recommends my next heli be the Esky Belt CP V2, he stocks them (and lots of parts) in the 2.4 version for $189 including tax.

I can buy the T-Rex 450 V1 with motor and esc & battey for $299 including tax. I have a new DX6i and know I will needs recv, servos and gyro.

I do not fly 3D yet, I have an MSR, Hirobo XRB, Hirobo Quark, 2 Blade CP's (junk) the only one I have trouble with is the Blade CP, but I think it was junk right out of the box.

What do you think???

Always go with what you can get parts for easily. If your LHS has belt CP parts then I would definetly go with the belt cp. I wouldn't even consider the trex 450 if you have full belt cp parts at your lhs. GO for the BELT!

What do you mean "V1" ?

Do you mean the Trex 450 SA with the metal frames? That one is nice - much nicer than the Belt-CP. If you plan to crash a lot, you'll need parts though

parts are easy to get on the web for a trex but if you mean the heli I'm thinking of you could save a load and buy a 2 or 3 copterx v1s, that way you have loads of spares and it's a clone so trex parts will fit,
your lucky with your DX, it gives you the chance to build a top spec heli, one that can take a knock with out having to buy servos ect and will fly much better than a cheap one,
cheap servos are not cheap in the long run, and a glitch can cost lots,
your blade should show you what cheap RTF are like,
even with heli's costing less than 200 futaba ect are doing well and that says it all,
we all want a heli for 200 but when we get one we spend a load on it to make it fly well and that's money wasted,
your better of buying just the air frame and fitting good parts, I think it cheaper in the long run, I've done both and wouldn't buy another RTF heli,
ps I run a walkera 60b air frame and a copterx BA, so I do see the use for a cheap air frame but the there's not that much diffidence in price when the servo's battery's giro's ect are the same, and the BA is not much more to repair, it doesn't get bent like the cheaper walkera does, yesterday I had the BA 25 feet in the air when the motor stopped the heli just fell down, 25 feet and the only damage was a broken skid, 3 dollars worth,

My first CP heli was the belt cp v2. I really like that helicopter still. The radio isn't anything special but worked fine for me. Since you have a dx6i already, I would use that.

I currently fly a EXI metal head/tail, aluminum frame... The one thing I do like over the EXI is the weight difference. The belt is alot lighter, and I noticed I could get longer flight times on a 2200 3s battery. When I was first learning, all i wanted was as much flight time as possible. It was easy to fix but the plastics break easy. Usually one servo would break per crash.
Although the belt is affected by the wind more, then the EXI.
Fyi I have the copterX, EXI, HK450 metal heads as spares and can't tell the difference between them in flight. If I had gone the Trex450 route, I think I would have gone broke by now and lost interest. If i could redo all the learning again on a different heli, I would go the cheap route. HK450 bulk buy (6 heli's, plastic head/tail), hobbyking electronics(servo's, esc, motor) but use a good tail servo and gyro. With HK's bundle pack, that will give you lots of spare parts to go thru. Then I would move up to a higher quality heli when you don't crash as much. I have not had any problems with cheapo servo's failing, other then usually 1 will break every crash. So get extra gears.

Metal frames are great lol, they get bent alot when you dump them but I just hammer them straight again and go. I crashed my belt hard into the field, and the plastic frame broke into several pieces.
To me, the Trex is not worth it...I would crash the trex just as much as a cheaper clone and be out a whole lot less money.

well since I went to metal geared servo's I haven't had to replace one, even with all the crashs I've put my heli's though,
there is a cheap and there is cheap and nasty,
you can buy a hole metal head and tail set with blades and main shalft + belt for a walkera 60B for 30 quid,
I'v had to buy 3 servos for one crash in the past, even with cheap servo's it cost as much as the heli did to put right,
25 pounds for years of service or 12 pounds for a few months,
thats the thing with learning you crash more but have kit that's more fragile and more likely to cause a crash, it's amazing we ever learn to fly with the RTF kits out there,
when I first started flying 2 years ago my heli was so bad I almost gave up, it was always brokeing but now it's always waiting for a still day,
it's not just me hows got better my walkera is not the same heli it was 2 years ago,

the ones with metal parts are better

get the t-rex sport kit or the pro kit

differences:

pro
-torque tube driven tail rotor
-tail servo mounted on frame
sport
-belt driven tail rotor
-tail servo on tail bloom

also they have two different tail servos if you choose to buy the super combo

but the belt cp is ALOT LESS ESPENSIVE

the t-rex is much more stable and fun to fly

happy flying!!!
