On my SS60 I moved the gear to the fuse, just forward of the wing saddle. The gear was changed to aluminum.

same here. I did it after a rough landing that ripped one gear out of the wing. the ejected gear destroyed the stabilizer

good as new now. I did buy the light weight wheels and the model balanced perfectly

Damn, i didnt know it was so common. I was going to redrill the existing block and get rid of that glued end block.

Canopy deformation was not a problem. I didn't do anything.

Thanks for the compliment !

I have a quick fix. I'm going to silver solder an addition wire to the gear and brace it aft. That should prevent the gear folding back. Will send pics soon!

I actually used a solid gear block and drilled it with 3 degrees of angle to set the wheels a little forward. I'm in the process of soldering a support wire aft that will be attach to an additioanl solid block, so that original forward solid block will not have to adsorb "ALL" the torque on landing.

I like that idea.. I may do the same.. I had beefed up the ribs but I want to have some type of fairing as well up to the wings and the additional wire will help with that.

JBG... would love to see a pic of the final outcome...

I"m thinking of having the extra wire parallel the ground a bit then up... in order to build a fairing around it.... but the more back it goes before angling up... the less effective it will be...
