And I don't see how that could possibly help with aerodynamics if you are blocking off the main air intakes unless you are sporting a propeller on that bird... A edf fan that is not advisable by any means.

Hey, don't kill the messenger.

I agree, I don't understand the aerodynamics of it myself. That was the way I interpreted what Joe is saying though. We'll see if he clarifies.

I think he was referring to my SR-71 that I am running with a pusher prop setup.
If I were to aerodynamically seal off the intakes (not create an air damn) it would pick up some speed. This because it would only produce air resistance out side of the nacelles. But I too like the look and will just look for a better motor prop setup to get more speed.

You got it. The open intakes on a pusher prop results in a considerable increase in surface area and results in much more drag. With an edf, you are making up for the drag by converting electricity to mechanical work inside the engine tubes. Pusher props do not have that advantage.

Last time I flew the Blackbird she does much better than expected in cross winds, the one thing that startled me was coming in for a landing and the wind change direction from north to south and she pitched her nose up at like 60 degree angle 3 feet off the ground. I went 3/4 power and down elevator and cut back power- regained her and landed on the mains... I was shocked since it was the first "rough" landing I had with her.. all other landings have been near textbook with a last second flare.. loving this jet.. and the 2650mah battery is doing a good job so far w/average flight time of 3 minutes ( a few high speed passes and then the rest is half power)

New update on the Blackbird
Who at LX models made the decision to put plastic wheels on their planes??@!
I wondered why two planes of mine at full power on take off would fishtail badly and if the runway was damp it slide all over the place... Well the mystery was solved last week when I found both planes F-22 and F-117 both had hard plastic wheels. So I replaced all the wheels on the F-22 and F-117 and now the SR-71 since it too has plastic wheels... that should help keep then all tracking in a straight line!
