Castle ESC's break records, my entries.

Over the past few years my father and I have been breaking records. Most of our records are electric based planes. Nearly all our tests and most of our records have used our trusty castle creations esc's either on the record day or in one of our tests.

We also have a new high altitude plane that uses a CC 80 esc and will be able to go to altitudes of 18000 ft, (that is as hight as the faa will let us go without yelling at us!) It has 17,500 mah of lipos (2500x3s7p) and has a flight time of more than 2 hours at a low power cruise. It uses a Kontronik 480-33 geared 5.2:1 with a 12x8 prop. This setup id 90% efficient (measured)

The distance plane is bigger and heavier and has if I remember, 36,000 mah of li-ion round cells(4s15p), as when we did our research they had the most watts per pound. We have not tried it, but it should be able to fly over 4 hours under power. It has an Actro cl-8 14x12apc, not the best, but light and it works.

This one was interesting, a few days before, we were doing a test for an altitude plane we were working on. It used the 250 dollar kontronik esc that was intended to be used on the distance one. The planes wings broke under stress in flight and the esc was gone. No one in the area I lived had a specialized esc. I gave my lhs a call, and asked if they had a CC esc in stock they said they only had the smaller sizes and the others were sold out. We drove all the way down to graves hobby shop in orlando, a 3 hour drive and picked up a CC 80.
We used it for the record and it worked great, but it is still not as efficient as the kontronik jazz 55.

This was a short one, it used a castle creations ESC if I remember correctly.

here COMBO just means we used a small non rechargeable li-ion for the rx and servos, which is totally under the guidelines.
