I have used both versions on my JAS 39 (SAPAC) which weighs about 5 lbs. They both work fine as long as you make a proper landing...setting the nose down last, which I failed to do on the first generation set. Had the lastest version (with metal gears) in the JAS 39 for a month or so until the ground rose up and smote the aircraft

Pulsery2k1, I do believe that it weighs in at 9lbs AUW. I am hoping it will be here this week for the maiden but i am little nervous about the weight on the struts

bambguy, I think these have the metal gear but I am worried about the gears collapsing.

For 8 to 9lbs of weight, I would urge the use of E-flite 46 size gear!!

You might get by with the 10 to 15 size E-flites, their strut diameter is 3mm, were the 25-46 size is 4mm.

I'm using them on a 6 lbs jet at 9 lbs i'm not sure ?
they do sell metal case parts for heavier models which
seem to help , sonic rc use to sell them , but I'm not
sure if they still do .

I have the 10-15 size already. I spent $200.00 on them DSR-46 from sonic electric and now they might not be able to support the weight of the A300. I was advise from Denny himself before I purchase them back in November that they would be fine but after flying the 737 and noticing the music wire is not sturdy enough to support anything over 7lbs worries me..

The strut attachment method is much more robust than even a 5mm wire. They should work just fine. Just don't put the nose gear on the runway FIRST. As I recall, the DSR design is for the nose gear to RETRACT FORWARD (the preferred direction, as these were designed for EDF fighter jets) ....isn't that the way it is on the WW737????

These DSR retracts are also available from HobbyKing for around $100. In fact the version2 set I have was purchased from HKing about 4 months ago for about $87

Iīm seriously considering the Eflite 25-46. During my last two flights, with brand new gear, they bent on the first landing, even it was very smooth on paved runway.

I have been considering using Sergeys method first, but I donīt have the tools needed to do the drill-out operation.

Still waiting for pictures and video....
