well, seeing as a 10 year old car is 3x more likely to kill its occupant than a new car. I'd have to say there is a method to the madness. today firefighters have to struggle with new cars with cages so tough they defeat their equipment. crumple zones are real and they work. I had an uninsured illegal immigrant demonstrate that for me by fighting with his girlfriend over a radio station and never hitting the brakes before plowing into my stationary vehicle at 50MPH. everything in my trunk was ruined, but I was able to get out of the vehicle and help them till paramedics arrived. Moral of the story? if you are going to be stupid, at least wear your seatbelt.

yep, airbags work well too it would appear. They were a little worse for wear. Hit me with their sub compact car. It looked like the whole front end was gone. front passenger broke the windshield with their head.

I was in a 1985 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. big hunk of metal.

Strangest part, the little car was driven again after a new radiator and front tires. My big ol Caddy arched her back like a frightened cat and never ran again.
