Spinning thing with lights and electronics looks cool.

Need more info.

In the video above, the turret is free running. i.e. to stop it I have to reach over and unplug the battery while it's turning.

Today or tomorrrow I'll post a video showing it under RC control.

No, it's driven by a continuous rotation servo, so if you let go of the control, assuming the control is spring loaded, the turret will stop.
