First Quadcopter. Need help with determining compatibility among other things.
Hi, this is my first post on this forum so I guess I should introduce myself. I am a high school senior and the president of computer/technology club at my school and I'm thinking of majoring in computer engineering in college. I've recently gotten interested in multi rotors and I decided it might be a good club project to build one. Obviously, we want more out of this but I feel it should be a good starting point. Based on this thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1965226
I changed some parts:
My goal was to keep it under $250 and it seems that it would meet that goal. I'm not sure of the compatibility, hence why I'm asking. The other members wanted to do programming and other things so hopefully. Maybe something like an arduflyer would be better for the flight controller. Please suggest anything that should be changed. Thanks!!!

The RCX1804 motors are good for an AUW weight of about 400gram and lower. If the copter is heaver than this you need larger motors.
This means that a 2200mAh battery wiil take it over the minimum weight. A 800 to 1000mAh battery is about right for these motors.
Instead of all that HK stuff just buy the ZMR X250 bare bones kit from myrcmart. This was my first copter and it flies well.
