Started work on the wing sections today. Sorry for the poor quality iPhone pics. I added a carbon strip to the leading edge which I buried within the foam. The strip is placed on its edge in a way which will prevent wing flex. Due to the dihedral in the wing it requires quiet a deep channel to get this in place but I hope it will significantly strengthen the wing along its length.

I also cut the flap servo recess and inserted the two supplied carbon rods in one half of the wing. The foam covers which slot over the tubes and hold them in place are slightly over-sized and had to be sanded back.

Some tidying up left to be done before joining the wing sections and glassing.

More soon.

Regards

Fergus

Use a soldering iron with a self tapping screw in the end to make channels in the EPS, makes for a much neater job. Make sure you use with a metal ruler
Looks good so far btw

one that's wider at the tip. "screw" that into your soldering iron so that the screw gets hot.

No, you don't want to be using your best soldering iron for that job.
You can get a really neat job with it, not my idea though,

forget it.. I'm going to touch the rigidity ahha.. now that I have it in my hands it's obvious that some modifications has to be done, even if you land soft all the times...

I've glassed a few foam planes, but wonder if solite might be the way to go on this one? I think glassing the inside with WPU is the way to go, but the outside covered in solite would give some good rigidity and durability on (grass anyway) with minimal weight gain. I don't have one in hand, but I bet some carbon and extreme tape reinforcing covered with solite would be a winning combination and look nice too.
I'm anxious to see what you guys come up with and how she flys.

Wing covered with nylon stockings and WBPU. Light weight spackle to be applied next. Not much weight gain and the wing can now be flexed without snapping. Hopefully the wing will end up white again haha
