Build Log
Sagitta 600

I have a set of Sagitta 600 plans Digitally, and I'm starting a build thread with the hopes that maybe I can keep proper track of my progress, as well as, get advice from time to time if/when I hit a snag... I am an experienced builder, however, most of my building experience is in free flight and control line. I have NEVER built an rc sailplane before but my dad had a Sagitta 600 when I was a child and I'm excited to build and fly one of my own. I do plan to build this airplane completely by hand and from scratch, but with my limited flying space I'm going to have a convert it to carry a brushless motor which is a giant Pandora's box of bad possibilities... Wish me Luck!

I had a Sagitta 600 for several years. A wonderful glider. Well worth the build.

As you know, just keep it light.

Will you be launching on a hi-start or a winch?

Sagitta 600

I'm going to be converting it into an electric because neither of my flying locations have room enough for either.

titri1, it's great news to hear of your build, I salute you for taking the path less traveled while gaining even more skills constructing your model. Don't discount or minimize your efforts they will serve you well your entire lifetime. Ed

Make the tail as light as you can, but reinforce, at least slightly, the area of the fuselage near the front end of the fin.

I've built two of these. Lincoln is right. They fuse tends to break right in front of the fin where the fuse gets very narrow. I ran prepreg carbon on both sides of the fuse from nose to tail and light glass over that, solved that problem. Many folks replaced the fuse with after market fiberglass fuselages and those worked fine too.

I was shocked at one sloping at Sunset Beach (it was built flat-winged with ailerons) that kept up very nicely with my moldie Spider60. Very surprising indeed!

I had two Sagitta 600s back in the day and loved them. Always wanted to build a aileton version. Could you tell me where I could get the digital plans?

I made up a couple of pieces of balsa that were thin at the edges so they'd blend in, and glued them on either side of the weak area. Worked fine.
