Hard case for DJI S900

I'm hoping that you can help me. I'm about to buy a DJI S900 and would like to get a hard case for it, however I don't know what size to get.

I know that the S900 folds down, however I can't find any details on the dimensions of it when it's folded. I presume that it's okay to transport it with the arms attached, but folded down and the gimbal still attached?

I imagine that getting an empty case and then building up foam where needed to support it would be the best plan.

If anyone has experience of casing a DJI S800/S800 EVO and can tell me the case they used then that would be a start as I believe that the S900 is only a little bigger.

I'm in the UK, so it would really have to be a local supplier.

I was looking at these:
http://www.waterproof-cases.co.uk/pr...rotector-case/
http://www.waterproof-cases.co.uk/pr...eu070070-5020/

However they seem pretty big and would be tricky to move around. Would I be best to transport the S900 with the arms removed? Although that seems crazy when it has been designed to fold down.

I would appreciate any ideas. Cheers.

I appreciate you taking the time to post a reply, however I'm following that thread and I don't remember anyone talking about cases for their S900. If I've missed it, then it would be great if you could let me know what post number it is, or provide a link.

Thanks.

Well I've got a Peli 1660 for my S800, but it means you have to separate the landing gear, center plate and arms.

I believe the S900 is similar to the S1000, is it not?

The bucket-style cases sold for the S1000 should fit the S900 pretty well, I would think. At most, you may have to cut a bit of the foam.

Thanks diablo2112. That's more like it. Sadly they are unable to send it to the UK.

It would be great to find out the model number of the case they're using so that I can see if I can buy it in the UK.

Thanks craigblues. I was really hoping to find a solution that meant I wouldn't need to take it apart to put it in the case.

Pelican 0370 will fit a S1000 so should work well for a 900 as well. Realistically you will need a cube shape and I'm not sure if they make a smaller cube, but then I'm not sure how much smaller the 900 is. The S1000 fits in the 0370 with not much room to spare.

Probably doesn't help but I found mine almost new on Craigslist for $180. Do they have Craigslist in the UK? They can be found for about $350 shipped new in the U.S.

Thanks Seydou. Having searched some more I believe that the only case that will fit is, as you say, the Peli 0370.

We don't have craigslist here, however we do have similar things. I'll look, but think it unlikely I'll find a second hand one.

I may have to buy new:

340 (plus delivery and VAT)

The foam is another 25 and I'd need to cut it out myself. That'll be fun...

If you can find a set of foam for that much, it is surely a good deal from the perspective of this side of the pond. And in all honesty, unless you are wanting to transport your craft via airline or post, then DIY foam should be sufficient.

My used case came with pick-and-pull layers that had been used previously, but I was able to construct a complete base layer with two "rings" and then a top layer with four square columns of foam to take up the extra space.

I may try to post a photo of what I am writing about after the weekend.

Good luck.

does anybody know the footprint dimensions of the s900 when folded up so I can also research cases? I can't seem to find it anywhere and I'm after the smallest case possible..
