DX6i charging question

Hey guys, I recently bought a DX6i from a fellow member and it did not come with a charger. No big deal, I have a spektrum charger but I think it came with my old DX7. the output on the charger is 11.6V 110mah...... the DX6i is 4.8 volts of course...... well, the output on the RX side of the charger is 5.8V at 110mah. should I switch out the charging jack and charge the DX6i through the RX side of the charger (5.8V) or just go ahead and plug it into the TX side of the charger? I know plenty about lipos but not much about NiCd and NiMH batts. I would assume I should charge it at 5.8V but..... figured I would ask you experts on here first thanks guys.

Rx side. You don't want to charge NiXX packs to 11.6V. These chargers do not shut off, they keep charging. As they reach the rated voltage the current gets very low and they can be left on for a reasonable time after the pack is charged without damaging the pack. Leaving it plugged in at an 11.6V level would damage the packs.

But Hoppy you did'nt tell him what to do,yes use the Rx side of the charger it's set up for a 4 cell pack, you'll have to solder on a plug or make a Tx plug to a futaba and plug in.

I know I would have to switch plugs, no big deal there. I just wanted to make sure I am charging it at the right voltage thank you very much.

Be careful with the polarity of the TX batt pack. The DX6I TX has the (+) attached on the outside of the plug, I think ?
