Trouble is, you'd have to go to scale cowling doors to show them off... then you'd need some scale erks on trestles working on the Merlins... really there is no end to it!

Maybe one outer side of one Merlin so you could lead the onlooker to think you'd gone the whole hog?.. blag it a bit!

Wow that would be fantastic!!

Talking of 3D printing here is my latest experiment. Rather then make four custom sized spinner back plates which takes an eternity I thought I would draw one up and have all four printed. They are perfectly straight and plenty strong and light enough

Then rather than make a plug for the spinner itself why not draw one and print it to use as a plug! Its totally accurate because I used a photograph to trace the shape and it fits perfectly.

I have made it slightly too thick to actually use but in hind sight I think they are strong enough to use as they are

So I can now make any shape and size of spinner I like relatively cheaply!

That's amazing! If you would be able to print your own spinner with cutouts and in the exact scale shape.. also, I hate having to ream thr backplate to the right shaft size, one issue you could also solve when printing. I think this is revolutionary.

Relative to what Ken? ... Spun aluminium or plastic?

It does look good though.

Now that is really cool! Spinners are always a pain.

Now you are going to have to stop sending all these parts out to be printed, and get a 3D printer of your own.

Busy doing this Phil - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...2221287&page=5 taken me longer than I thought just put clear coat on the underside, using Klass Kote two pack epoxy looks to have gone on real nice but I have left her alone in the garage for the fumes to die down

I should be back on the Lancaster before Christmas, next up will be spinners

Nice work on the Tri-star too Ken.

I went down to my local aviation museum they other day which has a Mk7 Lancaster in it, forgot how lucky we are to have an example here.

Then I started wondering how yours was going.
