I would also recommend that you use the momentary switch to hand the yoke to student. So when they get in trouble, you release the momentary and right the ship.

Those batteries need to be removed from the Transmitter and charged with an appropriate charger... the built in charging jack won't do for LIPO/LIFE batteries..

So that's where that smoke smell was coming from.

Highly advisable but not absolutely required.

Just had the opportunity to pick up two (2) External Voltage Sensors for my 14SGH Tx.

I couldn't see paying the really exorbitant Tower City price for one of these, so I waited and viola... one appeared on Amazon.

After an on-line discount, I ended up only paying $10.98 for two of them, shipping included.

Shipping time.. 12 days

P.S. Now I've got another really cool project to do over the upcoming winter months...

I did the same a while back, but didn't want to post about it until I had the chance to use it and offer a report...then I forgot to let y'all know...

At any rate, I haven't had any issues with the external voltage sensor cable and it's far cheaper than the Futaba branded one.

You can find them cheap on Amazon. I went an even cheaper route and roll my own when needed,

Works like it should, no issues.

I don't see why anyone would expect an issue - it's a matter of getting the correct (off-the-shelf) connector, a couple of wires and a fuse and solder the fuse to the correct (negative) wire. The fuse is to protect the receiver analog input circuitry from high capacitor charging current in the ESC going through the thin receiver ground trace on the analog input.
