looking at both of these whats the better model and why

I've flown a friends 4M Salto a few times and it's really nice! I don't remember the manufacturer but it's all moulded, has scale looking air brakes, he got it from Soaring USA.

Valenta ? If so, yep it's a fine fine model.

Hi,

if it’s 4 m wingspan and all moulded and has got scale looking air-brakes at the TE, it should be of Baudis-origin.

If it has got 4.5 m wingspan and is all moulded and has got Schempp-Hirth-style air-brakes, it’s most likely Valenta.

Whom do you expect to answer a question like this?

What manufacturers are you talking of? What’s your experience? Where and under what conditions (slope, alpine, aerotow) do you want to fly? What’s your building experience? And so on...

If you can express yourself just a little more precise you may get some decent answers...

Andy, i`m not asking the question of a specific manufacturer just what do people have and what do they think ,i`ve been flying about four years and will be looking for a slope model although aerotow`s not out of the question as to building i`ve built a bird of time from kit , gulp,halfpipe ,fast bak and scratch built a jart and many other models ,Harvey

Ok here goes

I have both and both have there good and bad, but for me the fox has all the good!

If you can get a Salto that has the wing extentions to make it into the thermal version then the salto is a good bird to go for. Gives you best of both worlds so to speak. The only big problim with Salto's are that they can have a tendincy of tip stalling. But that also depends on the speed you fly at and depending on how good a pilot you are, would be the differnce between getting its full potentiol out of it or not. I love flying my Salto's. Can be a bit nerve recking.

Now on the other hand, I love the fox more and find that I can push my fox's so much harder and faster and they are very stable in all ways. Ps the fox's can look so much bigger than the salto's because of there desighn. Put a 4 meter fox next to a 4 meter salto and the fox looks bigger Very nice. The fox makes me calm down.

Lenger still offer the S2G Fox, which at 4m and 500 Euros is a great deal. I have seen one and it's a really nice model in all regards, oracover'd wings though, not molded. But if you're a relatively new flyer then foam wings are an awful lot easier to repair should (when) the inevitable happens.

thanks fo rthe replies guys, i`ve decided on the fox so the next question is manufacturer any recomendations?/links , some of the ones i`ve found only have german etc language sites , and obviously i need them to ship to the uk many thanks Harvey

ah the big question, nothing actually but that will get me just that in return, so i`m thinking somewhere between £300/£400 and as i`m not in a hurry i don`t mind some building ,Harvey

I fly a 3.75m Roedel Fox. Great plane!!! Beeeefy fuse and joiner! I have wrung it out pretty hard on the slope and aerotowing.
