One Hill Two Flamingos

A brief break in the endless monsoon here saw myself and Motley Crew duke it out with our 1:3.5 scale H4 Flamingos on the slope...

Wow, Very nice flying and filming.
Two experienced builders and flyers.
Usually not a big fan of music videos but this was good.
Warmed me up on this zero morning.

Chris,

That was fabulous. Thanks for posting.

It seems this plane has imposed itself on my attention in the last few days. I'd never heard of a Flamingo until earlier this week. I ordered some plans from Traplet (who I also hadn't used before) and the included sale flyer had an ad for your Flamingo plan and parts kit. Tonight while browsing I fortuitously found this thread.

Please pardon my ignorance of scale RC sailplanes but will this plane thermal? What launch options are practical? Not much opportunity for slope soaring where I live but the plane is so beautiful I want to know what options there are for flying one. Last silly question for now, could it be scaled down enough to use a high start launch?

Thanks for your time.

Take care,

Brent

Brent, the Flamingo will do everything a glider is supposed to... Here, we throw them off the hill and aerotow them. To get down to a weight suitable for a bungee, would mean a complete re-design down to around 1/6th or 1/5th scale.

Bernd, the camera is the Mobius with the 'C' wide angle lens that I am currently evaluating...
