Mine is ugly as sin but sure does great STOL. It's more of a tandem wing but I guess technically the front wing can be called a canard. This was a proof of concept. I hope to be doing a prettier one after the intensity of my day job lets up a bit.

nuteman, Thanks for showing. I stopped the second launch in mid screen for a closer look. I suppose the motor is on top mounted between the booms just to the rear of the front wing? If so, I believe it could not hurt to extend the vertical fins upward to enjoy the benefit of the prop blast. I also suppose that on the last landing you were holding the nose high vs tail heaviness? Congrats on your success and please show more.

The video below is a discussion of what I did.
I have tons of yaw stability with those vertical stabilizers, so adding more above will probably make it weathervane into the wind too much (been there, done that ).
Yes, ability to land nose high (and just high alpha flight in general) is due to a number of key factors: Low wing loading, massive elevons and fairly low aspect ratio.
I must land with low kinetic energy (really slow) at that field since the field is extremely rough and the plane is fairly heavy.

Tips for Canard vectored thrust (4 min 51 sec)
