The American made Sphere

Came up with this with staggernaut my long time friend. Using a beach ball we built carbon fiber round frames for our tri's. i lost all my build pictures on my phone. But will do my best to advise if someone wants to try this.

Remote Control Sphere American Made (10 min 35 sec)

There's very little I like about CF. It's harder to work with than GF, the dust is very bad for you, and what you gain in longitudinal strength you lose in torsional strength.

I reckon 2mm GF rod might be just right for this cage application. Still need to bond the rings together somehow, perhaps GF cord + resin.

That would look really cool with lights on the outside of the sphere

Can you get that to roll? I did notice that you kind of rolled around objects.

the idea of this build was to do just that. we wanted to land roll than take off again but even with multiwii auto stable it would not do it. it would get stuck in a down position. kinda let us down.
