Hey guys I'm going to be running a 6s setup (axi 5320 380kv) at about 4000 ft MSL and was originally thinking about the Xoar 20x8.....but I've heard guys generally have to "prop up" a bit the higher the elevation. Would I have to increase diameter or could I essentially increase pitch and run a 20x10 to get similar results? I'm just worried about going over 20" and not being able to counteract such a big prop in hovers Input greatly appreciated!

Working on a winter build of an AJ Slick 71”. Great plane!! Just about got everything done, but still contemplating on a motor and prop. Any suggestions? Stick with the recommended Hacker A50-12L V2, or maybe an OS, etc. Was also thing of going with Xoar for the prop. What I’m running so far is below:
4 x HiTech 7955-TG’s
Castle Ice 100 ESC
Hyperion 6s 5000
Castle Ice BEC pro with Rx Pack (Thunder Power 2s 1350mAh 25C)
Spektrum AR7010 Rx
Spektrum TM1000

on 6s there are really 4 main motors that everyone seems to be going with. a light setup would be something like the motrolfly 4325-380 (19x10 prop on 6s) or the hacker a50-12L (19x10 or 20x10 prop). for a heavier but a bit more powerful setup the two main motors are the motrolfly 4330 (or the 5320, but recent reviews of the 4330 are very positive) or the hacker a60-6xs. cant really go wrong with any of those setups, but on the 71 slick that is lighter and easier to balance, i highly recommend the lighter motors. the plane just flies awesome when it is kept light and either of those motors will provide more than ample power.

You may want to ditch the redundant 2s rx pack. I can feel the difference on a few oz when I go from 6s5000 packs to 6s4000's. Using the a50-12L and run xoar 20x10, 19x10 if hot out. Good pullout but not ballistic. Hovers and harriers are super easy at this weight. If you fly in hot climate you may want the bigger engine to manage temps. I usually have to wait about 10 minutes between flights with the a50 if it is warmer than 65 -70 degrees out.

You may be happy with the 20x8 prop at that kv. But if not I wouldnt be scared to go 20x10 either.

How long can you fly and how many amps are you pulling on the 6s4000s?

I'm in the same situation trying to find the perfect 6S setup for my 74" Edge. I have been thinking of the motrolfly 4330 however I think you can run a larger prop on the hacker A60. However, I hear that the motrolfly runs cooler than the hacker.

So get the motrofly wound to a little lower kv to run the prop you want

The 4330 can run just as big of a prop because of the rear bearing. Just get it wound to what ever kv works for the prop you want to use. The 4330 is an awesome motor.

Would you recommend the Xoar PJN or PJE. Local shop allways has the PJN and has been the default for wood props.
