just saw this:

is there a thread already, or if not, can we start talking about it?
seems interesting, and already have several questions that we can discuss.

Yeah,...

....like will the R615, currently shown as BACKORDER ever be restocked or is it now on it's way to join the original R610?

I have an R615X as a result of being on the test team for the new 9XR Pro. I've been flying it for several weeks on both DSM2 and DSMX with no problems at all and very good range. Before this, I used several R615s last year, also with 100% results.

My understanding of the HK announcement is that the R615X replaces the R615, implying that the latter is now discontinued. This makes sense, as I can't think of any reason why they would want to continue making a DSM2 only version when for essentially the same cost they can make a DSM2/DSMX receiver.

I guess it's relative,...

...however R615 was last posted as $5.89 vs the new 615X posted as $8.99

Probably will move to the R620 now, and gain Full Range instead of adding $3 to
stay with the R615

For the uninformed, what type of lead/connector do you need to connect to a CPPM device like the KK board? is it a standard connector or ?

Regular servo type connector. The CPPM output is from the Batt/bind pins on the receiver. I don't know what the KK board requires but assume it's the same.

I'm not saying there's not a marketing strategy at work here with the pricing!

I don't see moving to the R620 as much of a gain unless you add a satellite receiver. Then you have a $25 combo.

The basic R615 or R615X seems to me ideal for most flying. It provides genuine signal diversity with switched antennas, whereas the basic R620 has only a single antenna.

It's automatic at the receiver, which accepts either DSM2 or DSMX.

DSMX transmitters can generally be forced to use DSM2 mode but there are few reasons to do so.

+1 to Marketing Strategy

I do like Diversity, but the R620 does provide Full Range,...although I've never had a range problem with my R610s or R615, I'd hate to start now

I'm not sure what "full range" means and I see no evidence that R620 is superior for normal visual flying with medium size models.

Not saying it isn't, and I'm using R620 myself for some larger models, just that I have yet to see evidence that the $25 cost of an R620 and satellite is justified when a $9 R615X will do the job just as well in most cases.

I would see the benefit of the R620 mainly in cases where the receiver is buried among servos etc. and a satellite can get a clear signal.

Does anyone know how many channels you can output via ppm? Thanks.

What could you possibly be flying that you could maintain LOS at 2 km?
