My Kellett kit arrived today from Whirlybird. It is a very nice looking kit with everything nicely laser cut. The manual looks very comprehensive with lots of color pictures. Man, there is one huge bundle of piano wire that comes with this. I am glad that I ordered some wire benders.

I would like to thank Jodini for his great communication and quick shipping. I also got my delivery from HeadsUpRC today.

I am ready to rumble.

Enjoy the build Rick! If you have any questions, please send me a PM, email or post out here.

One thing I would suggest you do, is on the landing gear, toe them out a little. I believe the diagram has them straight down at a 90 degree angle....I would come out a little on the bottom to help with ground handling.

I flew mine today, just for fun. Did some rolls for the first time....that was fun! Rolled left and it flopped right around! Very happy with this machine! 6 kits left!

Can't wait to get it in the air. Regarding toe out on the landing gear that is pretty much recommended for any kind of tail dragger. And it is an easy experiment for anyone to do. Try toe in, straight, and toe out and see which one you like better.

Thanks again Joe. Your magic is good.

WHIRLYBIRD AVIATION PROFILE KELLETT AUTOGYRO (3 min 56 sec)

The wind was pretty strong this morning ...on my first attempt the model was blown backwards an flipped on it's side....second attempt at an ROG was OK... but went into reverse as it landed and had to keep a high throttle setting to hold it in position. This is a very easy model to fly........Look's OK in HD
Happy Landings

Great flying Chris! Beautiful landing in the wind. I was holding my breath waiting for it to flip over. It would have if I was flying it!

Finally I got mine at home!
One hour after i took it out of the box and it is 50% done. Now I have to bend wire and sand some parts, so I need to go to my garage but there was a tornado here (first in history so big for us) and heavy rain, so I don't want to go outside to go to the garage...and also I havent got any electricity there.

How ever a very good kit. I like it so much. A bit expensive due to shipping and customs. Finally I spent 177 euros...ops!

No offense taken and I do apologize for the overseas shipping! Seems like it gets worse every year!

Chris, I do love your video...you do a nice job flying your birds!

I got tired of waiting for my friends video so I thought I'd just post the raw footage of my Kellett with a GoPro Hero 2 onboard. This gyro got virtually trashed in a float plane accident but was successfully repaired. I did notice one of the rotor servos had a broken mount so I zip tied it to the mast. It was a bit loose and that accounts for the rolling movement during the flight. It's fun to watch the rudder movement.

During the flight, I was also trying to concentrate on capturing the other aircraft in the pattern. Normally not an easy thing to do with an autogyro but a testament to how well the Kellett flies.
