I've got to tell you about our latest fun with making things go fast that look good and is inexpensive. If there is already a thread on this here I couldn't find it so here goes.

The modifications I did for my SpeedBear
* added some carbon fiber to the horizontal stabs
* Moved motor mount back 10mm so the motor would fit in the cowl
* Changed the clevis's to stronger ones.
* Supported the elevator push rod so it wouldn't flex in flight
* Used Welder Glue to build (strong stuff!!) and then used Hysold on all the horns to keep them in place

The amazing thing about this plane is not only is it fast, but it tracks and flys really good at speed and slows way down for landing. I'm running an APC 4.75 x 4.75 but we have tested up to a 5 x 5.5 without issue. I've ordered some more APC props up to 6.25 pitch that we will be shaping and trying in a week or so. Turns about 33K RPM now

Very nice pocket racer!

Been around a long time now, bone stock would do 120mph+ out of the box on 4s

with a bit of carving a 1300mAh 45-90c 6s will fit no problem

here is a 6s one with Turnigy 2826 2200kv motor and upgraded esc

Mine been sitting in my garage for the last year gathering dust might be time to get carving

hmm i'd like to get a doppler! Fly closer and lower, lets see what this can really do!

That's a quiet interesting setup for small racers.

One setup that fits good too is a Turnigy 2836 Brushless EDF Motor 3200kv with an 4.1*4.1 turnigy prop on a 4S 1800mah Battery.

I measured a Speedy racer at 240km/h (150mph) and it draws only 54amps.

I hope, a video will come soon of this little racer.

Flew this pocket rocket again yesterday and what a hoot. Man it gets small fast.
BTW the way we estimated speed was to time the amout of time it took to run the length of the runway. Not perfect but close. I'll try and get someone to shoot video of it for me.
We also run stock setups and pylon race them on a 75m 2 pole course on 3S and I'm gonna tell you it's a hoot on that tight course.
On 4S stock motor we get 110 or so. So pretty quick and fun but not near as fast as the setup above. Probably a little faster that an EF-1 plane.

Krylon paint. Just sanded the surfaces with 1500 and water but more to knock the dimples off that I assume are create in the molding process.

This is what I found on that setup

2x3s 1000mah in series. Prop 5x5. Motor, Turnigy 2826 2200kv 56A =1243.2 Watts

Ordered one with a NTN Prop Drive 28-36 3000KV and a couple of 4s 45C 1300mAh nano.

Let us know how that 3000 kv motor works with those batteries ie RPM, amps, battery??.
I have one but haven't tried it yet.

Flew the pocket rocket again yesterday on a 5 x 5.5 apc. This prop pulls it the best so far.

Hmmm....Purchased NanoTec 1300 (4 cell): Seems like I have to do a major cut session to get it to fit somewhere..And, it will get heavy in the nose. Or that's maybe cured if I move the motor back 10mm?
