Heli. Gyro installed to my Slash 2WD = awesome.

Just thought I'd let y'all in on my latest little trick. I had a spare EFLRG110HL gyro from my helicopter stuff and figured it might be fun to just try it out on the Slash. The results are amazing and it was extremely easy to rig for those who might be intimidated by the scary word "gyro." Here is a picture of where I put it.

Also, it's not that I find the truck is hard to control, it is just really cool to have the added stability.... And being a tech geek it's just neat to see it work.

Sounds interesting!

Do you have it set for rate or heading hold?

With the single wire connector not connected to the receiver this gyro automatically is in heading hold mode and is solely adjustable from the potentiometer on the gyro. This made it fairly easy to "dial" in the gain.

Also, just a thought, doing this project can really help visualize what exactly and how exactly the gyro is doing on an RC helicopter. You can set it up wrongly with far less consequences on a truck than a heli!

Awesome. Would like to see a vid of you tossing it sideways and then letting the gyro correct it.

It corrects unintended deviations of the set heading of a heli/car etc. So like with a heli, as long as the pilot isn't touching rudder control, the nose should stay pointed where it was. In a car it can be used to increase stability on a straight run for instance. For more info, Google or similar search engine will enlighten you.
