Will a phantom 4 be the ultimate quad?

I have kinda an odd problem..

I'm worried that once I get the phantom 4, I will no longer have the desire to Scratchbuild any quads because it is so good. Has anyone found this so? I just built an s500 AP quad, but I feel that a phantom will take its place and I'll never use it again. Should I be worried about this? I know it's an weird worry, but I'm concerned!

Not having to ever unscrew and tinker with that darn thing to get solid vid and control lock is a total selling point. I never liked the build and tune part just the flight and vid

comparing to P4, your current s500 will take its place on the junk pile. However, P4 comparing to next generation AP quad, people would abandoned P4 like used diaper.

It's an extremely solid quad. My friend owns one and I am trying to justify buying one as well. It's just easy to use with few problems. Kind of like an Apple product. It just works.

You do not justify buying a consumer drone. In that path lies insanity. You just do it, or not. Come to think of it, There's not much sanity in having one either. Just do it and be done with it.

Yeah, I guess. But their different - I could use the s500 for lifting other stuff and for long distance fpv too. I think the phantom is more like pushing a camera through the air, not actually flying..

Agreed, which is why it's perfect for guys that are more focused on imagery rather than actual flying, although 45 mph does get your adrenaline pumping. I think it would be a fun purchase even for flying enthusiasts.

It's all based on your NEEDS and WANTS....

My multirotor experience is as follows, DJI f550, f450, Blade 200QX, 350QX 2.0, 350QX3 AP and now Chroma. For what I always wanted to do the Chroma is perfect for me. Great model to video from above and pop the gimbal and legs off and I got fun little bird.....

I currently have zero need to build anything multirotor of course....

Again, this is all about you and what you want and need, if one bird can do it all for you good for you...

The question is one of application. If you plan to race quads you will likely find homebuilt options more flexible and capable. If you plan to use your quad for anything else I think you will find the P4 to be incredibly capable and user friendly. Building and tinkering is fun but I prefer to spend my time flying! Really up to you and your application...
